Insects can be a major problem for gardens indoor and out. However, during the colder months, insects can become particularly nasty inside. It is important to identify and control an infestation of pests before it gets out of control. Check your plants every week or two. Look under the leaves of your plants, in the 'crotches' of the branches and on the stems. Run your fingers over these areas to see if you find any of the following bugs.
http://www.graspr.com/videos/How-To-Identify-Insects-On-Houseplants-1
Tags: graspr, how, to, video

From: GrowingWisdom
Date Uploaded: 9 Oct 2007
Duration: 2:03
Views: 2163
Ratings: 1

According the University of Maine Extension web site, 'Pruning is a vital part of maintaining a healthy raspberry planting. This practice greatly inhibits the spread of raspberry diseases and improves fruit quality and yield. During the summer months, regularly remove all new canes that emerge outside the desired plant row width of 12 to 18 inches. This improves light penetration and air circulation for the canes in the middle row that will fruit next year.
There are not many flowering vines available to gardeners whose flowers are more spectacular then the clematis. Members of the Ranunculaceaefamily, most clematis are climbers. There are two exceptions worth noting they are the species C.heracleifolia and C.integrifolia which would look nice in a perennial border. Most Clematis are hardy, however there are a few that do not like to be subjected to extreme cold.&nbsp...
http://www.graspr.com/videos/Growing-Clematis-1
Tags: graspr, how, to, video

From: GrowingWisdom
Date Uploaded: 9 Oct 2007
Duration: 2:28
Views: 1238
Ratings: 0

Pruning tomatoes is one of the easiest and most beneficial things you can do to increase fruit size and help lessen the chances of disease. First, lets talk about which tomatoes to prune. Indeterminate (climbing) tomatoes should be staked, trellised, or caged, and pruned for best results. Determinate (bush) tomatoes do not need pruning and may be grown with or without support.
Rose of Sharon, (Hibiscus syriacus.) is a great summer flower shrub hardy from zones 5 and higher. Although naturally a multi-stemmed shrub, rose of sharon can be trained through pruning (in late winter) to have simply one main trunk; thus some people refer to it as rose of sharon 'tree.' It's easiest to give rose of sharon its desired shape by pruning it accordingly during its first two seasons. It can also be trained for espalier.
http://www.graspr.com/videos/How-To-Prune-Rose-Of-Sharon-1
Tags: graspr, how, to, video

From: GrowingWisdom
Date Uploaded: 9 Oct 2007
Duration: 1:34
Views: 326
Ratings: 1
