Description: Spotlight - The search technology (more...) launched as part of OSX Tiger is great but..... well, really, it could be better! The simplisitic user interface gives rise to immense frustration when trying to construct more complex queries to search through your hundreds if not thousands of files. Also, what is really going on 'under the hood'? How do you know which volume is indexed, what about if you need to recreate a damaged or incomplete index? Well this weeks show addresses some of the failings in Spotlight by introducing you to two applications to help you get the most out of Spotlight. Spotless - By fixamac is a great utility for managing Spotlight and the indexes it creates. You can enable or disable spotlight for individual volumes, re-create indexes, re-create your spotlight index directories and even switch spotlight on or off. HoudahSpot - By Houdahsoft Software extends Spotlight in ways you could only previously dream of! Houdahspot is the front end for Spotlight that takes creating search queries to the next level. A richly featured search form together with drag and drop functionality, templates, integral browsing and previewing make Houdahspot the interface that Spotlight should have had! And yes, we have a special ScreenCastsOnline discount for Houdaspot - 20% off the usual price until 1st May 2007. Just enter the code: SCO07 when purchasing online. (less)

Description: If you want to master Web 2.0 marketing, (more...) you'll have to get comfortable with lingo. And I can assure you, there's a lot of lingo. This article explains some of the terms you will most commonly come across as you explore the possibilities of marketing your product or website via Web 2.0 methods.
Blog -- A blog is a website that provides news on a specific topic subject. Blogs are publishing systems that allow ordinary people to post, or publish, content without typical web publishing knowledge. Entries are posted in reverse chronological order and readers are allowed to leave comments for each post.
The Long Tail -- A marketing phrase coined in 2004 by Chris Anderson in Wired magazine which refers to the emerging 'less is more' scenario in business. The web is opening up niches that might not otherwise be served by bigger companies.
Participation -- A defining feature of any Web 2.0 website is its openness to user participation. For example, a user can participate in a blog by leaving a comment, or participate in a wiki by editing a page. From a marketing point of view, this participation can create exposure for a product or website. (less)

Description: The good thing about creating a Web 2.0 (more...) marketing compatible website is that you don't have to overhaul everything completely or immediately. Small changes introduced incrementally can be just as effective.
The following list describes ways in which you can take advantage of Web 2.0 marketing to outfit your website for maximum interactivity.
Introduce yourself and tell people who you are. Setting up an 'About us' page that lists your skills and achievements endorses your credentials and helps potential customers know more about you and relate to you better.
Install a blog and begin publishing a few high quality articles on a regular basis. Provide an action button for every article on your site which will take your readers to the submission page of a bookmarking site.
Provide your users with a forum for meeting and discussing your services and products. Get your forum registered at BoardTracker, a forum search engine.
Give your users the opportunity to rate and review your products; this will help you manage your inventory as you can add or remove inventory based on customer reviews or opinions.
Providing RSS feeds for newly launched products, forum postings or blogs will provide potential customers with teasers of your content. Interested users will scan your teasers using RSS readers and if it draws their attention, they will be tempted to visit your site to glean some more information.
Publish your feeds at Feedburner. Feedburner provides an advertising network for all RSS feeds, which enables you to monetize your contents if they are of high quality. (less)

Description: Co-Creating may become one of the most (more...) powerful engines of change and innovations that the education world will experience. Co-Creating with other educators across the nation is like tapping a knowledge pool of similar interest, a reservoir of creativity that may emerge through an enthusiastic wealth of talent producing warehouses of digital curriculum. It will not be an easy change and many tough challenges lie ahead to offset the standardized models of the existing rigors of traditional education. There is nothing wrong with mass co-creating, yet some see it as moving away from traditional practices of “drill and be drilled” forms of learning. (less)
