Description: Another factor in developing good piano (more...) fingering skills involves being able to play without always relying on looking at your fingers. In fact, in order to read music notation (which we won't be doing right now), your eyes will constantly be focused away from your hands. So what we're going to do here today is learn my own 'simplified' method of sight-reading. And there's only so much we can cover in this brief video lesson. So for complete details check out the online version of this piano exercise: http://www.get-piano-lessons.com/beginner-lessons-for-piano.html (less)

Description: For this lesson, make sure your piano (more...) and computer are sitting next to each another. With your eyes focused ONLY on your computer screen and your right hand in the Middle C Position, we'll begin sight-reading a group of numbers and play the corresponding notes on your piano keyboard. And to add an extra degree of difficulty, we're also going to flip these number sequences around and play them in reverse! Description: As they say with any exercise, it's 'No (more...) Pain No Gain'. And piano exercises are no different. So now we'll step it up a notch by practicing one more 15-note finger pattern both forward and backwards. Next, it's time to take the training wheels off and add a little speed and more notes with my very own 'Finger Jujitsu' invention! Don't worry, it's just a very tricky piano fingering chart that I like to call: 'The Tongue Twister'. Don't rush this lesson coz it's a little harder than it looks! Description: When it comes to piano playing, it's (more...) important to make sure your left hand is getting just as much practice as your right hand. The reason for this is because the right hand usually takes the lead and performs most of the work in many piano compositions. This can leave your left hand with alot less practice than your right hand. But in lesson six, we're not going to allow that to happen! We've got plenty of finger exercises to practice and perform with our left hand. And as they say, practice makes perfect, so we're going to play these exercises both forward and backwards to make sure we're getting a good work out! As always, you can catch the complete piano tutorial online at: http://www.get-piano-lessons.com/beginner-lessons-for-piano-left2.html (less)

Description: PLEASE NOTE: YouTube rejected Part One (more...) of this lesson because it is over 11 minutes long, (But you can still watch it by going to my myspace page or just click on the link below to my website). So, now that we've warmed up our left hand with some basic sight-reading drills, let's start practicing a set of 15-note finger charts and play them both forward and backwards! If you perform these exercises properly without peeking at your fingers, you'll get a terrific piano lesson in 'hand-eye coordination' that will sharpen your sight-reading skills and ultimately help increase your playing ability on the keyboard.
